What is Healthy Schools status?
National Healthy Schools status requires schools to meet criteria in four core themes:-
Has my child's school got Healthy Schools status?
All schools in Herefordshire are working towards Healthy School status and many have achieved the status. To find out if your child's school has achieved Healthy School status please click on the Schools Involved link on the left hand panel.
What part do parents play in Healthy Schools?
Healthy Schools is based on a whole school approach so schools are encouraged to involve everyone in the school community including parents in their Healthy Schools work.
This should continue even when the school achieve the status. How schools involve parents will vary but some examples might be involvement or consultation in policy writing, or developing the curriculum.
My child's school is a Healthy School but I am not sure that everything they do meets the criteria?
If you have any queries about practice in school your first point of contact should be the school's Healthy Schools Co-ordinator, the head teacher or other appropriate member of staff.
How can I support the work going on in school?
Various websites are available to provide information on all aspects of health.
If you find other websites you think could be useful to other parents please contact the team. There are also various websites designed for children and young people which you may find useful.
